In the early hours of Monday, 2 April, a quarrel started between the two brothers and ended in blood when one brother allegedly stabbed the other.
According to Mr Joe Monama, who also took the victim to the hospital, he (Monama) was sitting with some of his customers at his club when a man came running in, holding his heart. “He was full of blood and he was in so much pain. When we asked him what happened, he said that his brother stabbed him several times with a handmade knife when they were arguing,” Monama said.
“I did not waste time. I took my car and rushed the man to Modimolle Hospital.
The police was also called,” Monama explained.
According to Monama, the two brothers were fighting over family matters when the situation boiled over and ended in the older brother stabbing the younger.
Monama said that the victim told him that the latest argument was over the fact that one brother felt that he was the only one who provided for the family.
Modimolle SAPS spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, said that a case of attempted murder had been opened against the older brother. The suspect had since disappeared after he realised that he had nearly killed his brother.
“Our police officers went to his home and stayed there the whole night, but he was nowhere to be found. The search continues,” Ledwaba said.
The younger brother is still in a serious condition in the Modimolle Hospital. He is under police supervision to ensure his safety at all times.
