The promotional Modimolle Local Football Association (LFA) league has proven to be more competitive, following last weekend’s lively fixtures at the Ephraim Mogale Stadium.

Of the couple of matches for the day, Liverpool FC defeated La Masia FC 2-1 in a mouth-watering league encounter.

Modimolle LFA Deputy Chairperson, Hlupi Lehong, praised all the teams for competing at the highest possible levels of football, showing grit and determination.

“All the teams are playing with youngsters of the correct age. The performance was also high and it showed development of football in Modimolle was on the right path”, he said.

La Masia FC assistant coach, Lehlogonolo Dipela, said his team played well, and it was unfortunate that they failed to take home maximum points.

“During the first half we managed to create so many chances and we had our opponents under pressure. During the second half it was difficult for us to keep up. We have just resumed training, and everything is good so far. We are hoping to bounce back soon,” Dipela said.

Liverpool FC have a weekly system where they select the team’s man of the match, and it was none other than Glen Mathebula.

Mathebula was happy that he finally scored his first goal of the season.

In other weekend results, Egypt FC walloped Future Stars FC 3-1.
