The Nedbank Cup preminary fixture between Rapotokwane Qualitho FC and Bela-Bela Diesel ‘n Dust has been rescheduled for Saturday, 14 October.
SA Football Association officials abandoned the match 15 minutes into play last Saturday, 7 October, due to unsafe underfoot conditions.
Torrential rain ahead of and during the match waterlogged the playing pitch, leaving players unable to control the ball through puddles of watter.
At the time the fixture was abandoned, Diesel ‘n Dust FC was leading 1-0.
The rules have it that the match should start from scratch, at zero goals for each team.
Before the havoc caused by the thunderstorms, Bela-Bela Pirates FC beat Opleft FC 6-5 on penalties, to advance to the next stages of the coveted Nedbank Cup. The Nedbank Cup is South Africa’s only competition open to soccer teams from the lowest to the highest levels.
For instance, at the last 32 stage of the competition, teams from the Premier Soccer League all qualify automatically to compete against those from the lower levels who managed to reach this level.
