South African Handball Federation national team player, Karabo Mogoshi, was rewarded with a brand new pair of sneakers for his role at recent championships held on the Indian Ocean island of Mauritius.

Federation executive committee member and local Itireleng High School headmaster, Ally Pole, handed over the sneakers to Mogoshi.

The 16-year-old Mogoshi, who is a learner at the school, was among handball players who participated at the international men’s and women’s under-17 Beach Handball World Championships.

The championships took place from 11 to 16 July.

The players returned back home shortly after the tournament, with Mogoshi surprised by a special welcome at OR Tambo International Airport by the handball leadership in the Waterberg and Limpopo.

Mogoshi has participated in various levels of handball at home and abroad.

He started playing the sport in 2015 in his hometown of Rooiberg.

He has since caught the eye of handball authorities at the local, provincial and national level.
