It is all systems go for the 7th Standard Bank 5150 Bela-Bela Triathlon with just over a thousand athletes taking part on Saturday, 12 August.
Organisers said in a statement more than half of the athletes would be taking part for the first time.
Another interesting statistic was that the majority of the participants in the 5150 km endurance competition were from Gauteng, giving a much-needed boost to the local economy.
The field was to be dominated by male athletes at 71%, with the largest age group between 30 and 34 years.
The starting point for all categories is Warmbaths: Forever Resorts.
The first race, track running, was scheduled to start at 11am, from the resort through various parts of town and back to the venue.
The second event would be a 1,5 km swim which was to take place within the ski dam located in the resort, to be followed by a 40 km bike course through the bushveld scenery, and back to the resort.
The day was to be rounded off with a 10 km run within the premises of the resort.
Local multi-talented athlete Boikie Monareng, better known for the Run Boikie Run initiative, was geared to take part for the fifth year running.
