Of the 17 members registered for this year’s Comrades Marathon, the team managed to get a record 11 Medals.
Mike Selamolela brought home a Bill Rowan medal.

Samson Mabiya, Ezekiel Moatshe, Lucas Seleka, Piet Sekgabi, Kwena Lamola, Lebogang Shovhote, Vuyeka Vuma and Ntsako Maswanganyi brought home Vic Clapham medals.
Named after the race founder, the Vic Clapham medal was introduced in 2003.
Jane Lechelele whose 40th Birthday is on Saturday (10 June) also finished the race, but missed the medal time by just 3 seconds.
“I now know the do’s and don’ts. This is the oldest, longer and biggest race in the country. Next year it’s a downhill, and I will do even better,” Lechelele said.
Athlete Kwena Lamola thanked the team for the support and also sent glory to God.
“The faith my coach has in me, support from teammates and family was fantastic. God is good,” he said.
The team’s coach Ezekiel Moatshe believes that the future is even brighter for Modimolle.
“Unlike any other sport, running is for everyone. You need only courage and dedication to do well. We’re changing lives, influencing community in a positive way,” he told The BEAT.
The coach said they are trying their level best although they do not without financial support and hoping that tomorrow will be even better.
The team looked the part when they left for the Comrades Marathon, with a sports gear donated by Rakhutsetsa Luxury Tours.
Moatshe said they managed to put Modimolle on the map, and they are hoping to grow bigger.
The coach told The BEAT that team chairperson Lucas Seleka who was doing his 11th Comrades Marathon, was ordained as a Comrades Marathon national bus driver.
“He successfully delivered his group for 11 Hours 30 Minutes without a problem,” Moatshe concluded.
