Politicians in the Waterberg have been on a charity mood lately, apparently with an eye on the forthcoming 2019 general elections.

It was first the Waterberg District Executive Mayor, Morris Mataboge, who donated blankets to over 150 elderly people at Pienaarsrivier, during the Office of the Executive Mayor’s senior citizens programme.

Then Bela-Bela Mayor, Jeremiah Mfiti Ngobeni, donated sanitary towels to girl leaners at Mampatile Primary School.

A local commercial bank also donated school shoes and socks, while a clothing retailer gave out underwear.

Not to be left behind, Bela-Bela Local Council Chief Whip, Henrietta Ledwaba, donated food parcels to senior citizens from her women’s prayer group during her 55th birthday.

This year’s celebration took place at the AME Church.

Ledwaba has been celebrating her birthday as a public event annually from when she was still the mayor.
