Bela-Bela volleyball players’ anticipated trip to Zimbabwe hangs in the balance.
Tensions continued to rise in the embattled Southern African Development Community (SADC) member state, following a stand-off between embattled President Robert Mugabe and his ruling Zanu-PF.
Bela-Bela Kamplits Volleyball Club was scheduled to take part in a SADC regional tournament in the Zimbabwean capital of Harare from 13 to 23 December.
On Tuesday the club’s coach, Thabo Molokomme, said information at his disposal was that the African Federation of Volleyball was to consider relocating the tournament to either Botswana or Malawi.
Speaking after a friendly tour of Swaziland by Kamplits Volleyball Club, he said the continental federation was expected to confirm the new venue by next week.
He said preparations ahead of the tournament would continue never mind the change of venue, or otherwise.
