The police in Mookgophong are investigating a case of culpable homicide following an accident that occurred along the N1 South on Friday, 3 November. 

Limpopo police spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe, stated that three vehicles and a truck collided resulting in a pile-up.

Five occupants of a double-cab bakkie died instantly, while three other fatalities were reported from the other  vehicles. 

Ngoepe said the cause of the accident was still unknown.

At Bela-Bela the police reported that three cars were involved in an accident which happened at the Mackenzie off-ramp, in the early hours of Monday, 6 November. 

The police are investigating a case of culpable homicide after one person died and the driver of one of the vehicles was seriously injured. 

Emergency services personnel rushed to an accident at the R101 near Bela Mall. 

A bakkie and a sedan collided head-on, killing the driver of the sedan.

Detectives’ commander, Lieutenant -Colonel Abel Phetla said the driver of the bakkie was on his own, while the sedan transported a family of four.

The father was declared dead on the scene, and the police received reports of the death of one of the children at Mankweng Hospital in Mokopane.

A case of reckless and negligent driving was opened on Sunday, 5 November, following an accident which happened around midnight at the corner of Grobbler Street and Chris Hani Drive. 

It is alleged that three people were traveling in their vehicle towards the corner when a speeding car collided with them. 

The police confirmed rumours that the driver of one of the vehicles fled the scene.

One person from the other car was seriously injured and rushed to the local hospital.  

Two cars were involved in an accident at the N1 Codrington on Saturday, 4 November. 

Four passengers were seriously injured and a case of reckless and negligent driving was opened as a result.

One person died after two cars collided at the N1 near Kranskop on Sunday, 5 November. 

Phetla said the police were investigating a case of culpable homicide.
