Residents of the edgy Mountain View (Spa Park) in Bela-Bela were this week keenly awaiting a response from the Housing Development Agency (HDA).
Ward Councilor Kobus Van Der Merve (DA) said members of the community threatened to take to the streets should their demands for housing fail to be addressed.
In recent weeks Mountain View erupted into chaos with residents blockading main roads with burning tyres, due to a dispute over the same housing issue.
Bela-Bela Mayor Jeremiah Nghobeni had also promised to look into the matter, although it appears the city fathers have passed on the matter to the HDA.
The unrest was triggered by reports that the authorities had allegedly reneged on a promise to build a total of 500 RDP houses for the homeless.
The authorities, it was alleged, had arbitrarily reduced this to 250 housing units.
