Locals who were reporting for work at Modimolle’s Nylsakesentrum on the morning of Wednesday, 31 May were met with an unpleasant surprise when the body of a male person was found lying in the grass behind the building.
Onlookers gathered in the vicinity, while the police and members of the emergency services assessed the situation.
After it was confirmed that the man was dead, the Bela-Bela Forensic Pathology Services personnel were called to the scene to collect the body.
Warrant Officer James Findlay confirmed that the deceased person’s family members have already identified him.
The deceased was identified as Silas Lengina Moima from Phagameng township at Modimolle.
“A passer-by discovered the body and police were alerted to the scene,” said Findlay.
“The police investigated the scene before the deceased was removed. An inquest has been opened and the cause of death will be revealed by the post mortem,” he said.
The area where this gruesome discovery was made is covered by trees and bushes.
