Limpopo MEC for Education, Ishmael Kgetjepe, has called on all learners to refrain from taking part in the so-called pens down parties.

Pens down parties are events organised mainly for learners who have just finished writing their examinations, especially those who are in Grade 12.

These parties are mostly held on the first Saturday of December, a few days after the completion of the final examinations.

“Pens Down” parties were being planned for weekends leading into the Christamas holidays.

The Department of Education however expressed its delight and satisfaction with the manner in which the examinations unfolded.

“The Department would like to urge all learners across the province not to associate the end of examinations with parties, known as “Pens Down Parties”,” MEC Kgetjepe said.

Learners were further urged to use their time sensibly by reflecting on their academic journey, and plan for a better 2018.

He advised that part of growing up included taking responsible decisions and remaining disciplined.

MEC Kgetjepe said that self-discipline would go a long way in shaping the future of these young people.

“We want the results to find every learner in a good state of being and health,” MEC, Kgetjepe added.
