Women from across denominations at Modimolle converged on the One Body Church on Thursday 25 January to ask for divine intervention against the backdrop of the continued search for missing clergyman, the Reverend Jonas Oubaas Mokau.
Mokau has been missing since 26 December last year, and the community has been searching for him with the help of the police without any success.
Last Thursday local women gathered on the local One Body Church, where Mokau serves as the presideing reverend.
Reverend Pheladi Makau (no relation) of the Evangelical Lutheran Church at Modimolle, said it was hoped that something would come up following the interdenominational prayers.
“The purpose of this prayer meeting was to pray together with the Mokau family and other women from various local congregations. We are hoping and praying that he is found alive. Since December, the family and members of the One Body Church have been praying for the safe return of our elder,” she said.
Mokau’s daughter, Johanna, told The BEAT her family was calling on all local residents to help in any way possible to find her father.
“We are also hoping that through prayer we will find direction as to what happened to my father,” she said.
