Following a challenging but yet fruitful year for the reigning Mr and Miss Mookgophong, the new winners will have big shoes to fill after being crowned on Saturday, 9 December at the Mookgophong Community Hall.
The new Mr and Miss Mookgophong will take over the reigns from the King, Phuti Winston Kgopedi and Queen Betra Malema.
The 13 finalists, seven female and six male were selected during auditions held this year in July.
The reigning King and Queen, along with their runners-up have been involved in community development projects in Mookgophong since they took the reigns. Bring a Child to school and Dr Mathosa Foundation’s Donate a Pad are among the remarkable community projects that these young people have championed during their tenure.
A vibrant Women’s Day march led by Malema received a positive response from locals in August this year.
Co-organiser George Khosa said they were hoping to continue improving the lives of Mookgophong people, through the Mr and Miss Mookgophong initiative.
Khosa applauded the outgoing twosome for their determination.
“They really challenged, motivated and inspired many young lives in Mookgophong, and they deserve all the credit,” he said.
