Bela-Bela’s Ikageng Youth Centre was scheduled to host a beauty pageant on Saturday, 19 August.
The Beat contest, together with a Mr Ikageng Youth Centre showdown, was billed to take place at the multipurpose centre at extension six.
According to the coordinator of Ikageng Youth Centre, Tebogo Modiba, the contests were aimed at inspiring young people, to garner confidence and self-esteeem.
“(Within the context of fair play) Judges will be from outside Bela-Bela, and we will also feature motivational speakers,” he said.
There will be prizes galore on the day, including trophies.
A Mr Ikageng Youth Centre was also scheduled to be held on the same day.
Bodiba said the organisers were busy selling the idea at local schools, so as to widen the net of wannabe participants.
Contestants shall be between the ages of 15 to 25 years.
Registration forms can be obtained at an outlet in the township, or alternatively by making contact with Modiba on 071 283 3058.
Last month Johannesburg-based events manager, Cynthia Baloyi, unveiled another beauty contest for the township, to be held on 2 September at the Golden Lantern hall in Bela-Bela town.
