Bela-Bela-born fashion designer Potego Rihlanpfu left a footprint at the Vodacom Durban July, with potential customers asking for his contact details.

Rihlanpfu and six other designers were invited to showcase their work at the annual fashion event by the Department of Sports, Arts, and Culture.

He believes that this has been an excellent opportunity for him, and says that many fashion lovers asked for his contact information during the event.

“I never thought my designs would be so popular,” he said, “but my visit to Durban has opened new doors.”

Rihlanpfu has been on the design circuit for about two years as a professional, but he has been making clothes from 2006.

“I started out just helping people with alterations on their old clothes, but in 2015 I started learning how to start a garment from scratch.”

He has been invited to another fashion event which is to be held soon in Venda.
