The Hawks conducted an intelligence-driven operation on Thursday, 20 July, which led to the arrest of a 49-year-old man for allegedly dealing in drugs valued at R1,3-million.
According to Limpopo police spokesperson, Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, the arrest came after a tip- off.
“Hawks members received a tip-off about a vehicle that was allegedly transporting drugs in the Bela-Bela area, and it was spotted and stopped for investigation.
“The vehicle was searched and 4.6kg of Methcathinone (CAT) with an estimated street value of R1.3 million was found,” Mojapelo said
Evy Ezeagbai, reportedly a Nigerian national, appeared before the Bela-Bela Magistrates Court on Friday, 21 July, and has been charged with the possession and dealing with illegal narcotics.
His case was postponed to Wednesday, 2 August for further investigations.
Meanwhile, the drug dealing case against Daniel Maparangwa has been postponed to Friday, 11 August.
The 28-year-old Zimbabwean appeared in court recently.
The charges brought against him are from several cases that took place between June and September last year. Maparangwa is on bail of R5000.
